1. Setup & Helpful Resources

Setup

Getting everything set up can be a challenge. To make sure it goes as smooth as possible, you will go through all of it with your mentor. Together, you’ll go through this webpage for new Mac setup and this page for Android setup.

How We Work

Communication

Pretty much all of our communication occurs in Slack. People drop questions in the channel all the time, so don’t shy away from that. Slack is also the easiest way to get ahold of someone directly.

It’s also super common to pair with other team members randomly throughout the week. If a question is easier spoken than typed, feel free to contact someone and ask if they have a sec for a call.

Meetings

At some point you will receive a bunch of Google Calendar invites, so we thought it’d be nice to explain those! For the most part we try to keep meetings to a minimum, but we compiled a list of them that happen on a typical week. If you have any questions about what you need to attend or if anything pops up that isn’t listed, don’t be afraid to ask! Check out the document here!

Meet the team!

Whenever you’re ready, your mentor will set up 1:1s for you with each of the Android team members. In case that seems intimidating to you, I’ve created some brief intros for everyone. Allow me to welcome the Banno Android team :) Check them out in this document!

Helpful Resources

This is not a section that you have to work through, but rather a collection of resources that you will likely return to throughout your apprenticeship. Feel free to bookmark them separately for easier access or organize them however you please.
