PagerDuty Updates

Upgrades!!! whut whut

In the last few months we’ve upgraded our license level within PagerDuty. With this new tier we have access to enabling a few new features. Read further for the changes you can expect.

Teams

Teams allow users to customize the UI so that they only see information relevant to specific escalation policies, or groups of escalation policies. For example, a DevOps team member may only want to see the users, incidents, schedules and services associated with DevOps escalation policies. Likewise, a Support team manager may only want to see information relevant to his or her team.

As we leverage this new feature you may notice changes to your team’s service or escalation policies. Additionally we’ll be adding Geezeo and Internet Solutions to PD so you may see team names that reflect these additions. Checkout PagerDuty Teams for more information.

SSO

In the next little bit we’ll be making changes to the accounts we use for various SaaS platforms. In PagerDuty we’ll be doing away with local accounts and integrating PagerDuty with Azure AD to allow us to use our @jhacorp.com accounts. This streamlines our account management and provisioning processes as well as reduces the number of credentials we need to manage. Before we make this cutover you’ll see another announcement detailing the timeline and steps if any you’ll need to take.

Slack Apps

The PD Slack app has received a few refreshes. Some of the legacy /slash commands for paging are now built into the app integration. As we move teams towards this integration you may see some updates to how this command functions. We’ll make more announcements as we update the integration on the backend.
