What is Jamf Protect?
Jamf Protect is an endpoint security product focusing on network security. It must be installed on JH computers to continue to meet CIS benchmarks and compliance regulations. It comes pre-installed on all Digital Macs starting September 2025.
Is Jamf Protect Replacing Crowdstrike or Other Endpoint Security Products?
Jamf Protect will be implemented with the intention to work alongside other JH security products. At this time, there are no plans to remove Crowdstrike or Santa from the environment.
How Will I Know If Jamf Protect Is Working?
Ideally, users will see no changes in performance to their macs, unless they attempt to visit a website that is considered insecure. If that happens, users will be presented with a Jamf-branded page instead of the website, stating that the website is blocked, along with the site classification and directions to the #org-ground-control channel.

Getting Assistance with Jamf Protect
Jamf Protect is maintained centrally to detect, remediate, and limit the spread of malware. It should not interfere with endpoint performance; however, if you suspect it is, start keeping track of when and during what activities Jamf Protect may be interfering with. You can also use Activity Monitor to determine which applications are problematic.
If Jamf Protect is preventing you from accessing a website, launch a ticket here with the website and business justification for utilizing it. If you are trying to open an application and Jamf Protect blocks the application, check to see if you have the latest version. If not, try updating the application and then attempt to open it. JH ICS and Ground Control will be collaborating continuously on Jamf Protect. ICS guides policy on web security for JH Endpoints, and Ground Control provides the day-to-day management of Jamf Protect.
