What is Okta?

Okta is an identity provider used by Jack Henry to manage access to applications and devices. Additionally, Okta provides two-factor authentication for any login tied to your @jhacorp account. It is required to access almost all resources including JHDaily, BEP, VPN, Azure, and Microsoft 365.

Okta replaced SafeNet MobilePASS+ as the primary multi-factor authentication provider for Jack Henry on January 12, 2023.

Much of the following information is also available in this PDF guide on JHDaily: Okta Onboarding Guide PDF

Setup

To optimize your user experience, it is recommended that you install authentication methods on two different devices. This will help with possible future troubleshooting: if you get locked out of one authentication method and/or misplace one device, you can use the alternate to reset it and vice versa. The instructions below are for the recommended authentication methods.

Configuring Okta Verify on Your Mobile Device

  1. Install the Okta Verify mobile app on your mobile device via the App Store (iOS) or Google Play (Android).
  2. Open a web browser on your Jack Henry computer and head to jackhenry.okta.com.
  3. Log-in to your Okta dashboard using your @jhacorp.com user ID and password.
  4. You’ll be asked to select an additional security method to configure. Select Okta Verify by clicking Set up next to/below that option.
  5. In the Okta Verify app, click the blue Get Started button.
  6. Click the white + to add an account.
  7. On the Choose Account Type screen, select Organization.
  8. The next screen in the app will ask if you have your QR code ready. Click the blue Yes, Ready to Scan button.
  9. Scan the QR code on your computer screen using the QR scanner in the Okta Verify mobile app.
  10. Tap Done to complete the account enrollment.

Configuring Okta Verify on your Mac

Note: This verificaton method requires that you have TouchID set up on your mac. For more information on how to do that, please see this article

  1. Find and launch the Self Service+ application.
  2. Locate the item named Okta Verify, then click Install to install the Okta Verify app.
  3. After installation is complete, open the Okta verify app.
  4. Click Get Started.
  5. Read the “How it works” section, then click Next
  6. The sign-in URL should be pre-filled. If not, enter jackhenry.okta.com and click Next
  7. Your default browser will open to a login window. Enter your @jhacorp.com user ID and password.
  8. Back in the Okta app, click Next at the “Touch ID with Okta Verify” screen.
  9. Click Enable TouchID
  10. When you see “Account Added” the process is complete, you may close both the Okta app and the browser window.

Note: Okta Verify on the Mac enables the Okta FastPass authentication method. This method does not require a code, instead, it utilizes the TouchID biometric sensor to verify your identity.

Additional Authentication Methods

Okta provides additional authentications methods. You are free to set up multi-factor authentication with the Okta Verify browser extension, the Google Authenticator browser extension, the Google Authenticator mobile application, or a SMS phone number.

  1. Log in to the Okta portal at jackhenry.okta.com
  2. Select your name from the upper right corner.
  3. In the drop down, select Settings
  4. In the Settings menu is the option to configure your Security Methods. You can see all authentication methods that have been configured for your account.
  5. Here, you can add a new authentication method or revoke an existing authentication method if needed.

Using Your Authentication Method

  1. When you log in to Okta your device/browser will remember the previous authentication method you used and present you with that option to authenticate.
  2. Simply enter the code generated from the app on your mobile device.

If you cannot or prefer not to use that method to authenticate, you can select the option to Verify with something else. This will take you to a screen that presents you with every option for MFA that you have configured up to this point (i.e. Okta Verify or Okta FastPass).
